Madrid: Women’s double No. 1 Sania Mirza and Martina
Hingis entered the Madrid Open Tennis finals on Friday. The top-duo won over
Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva with 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals.
Reports are that the winner duo needed as many as 51
minutes to win over the American-Russian pair in the clay court tournament. Following
the triumph over King and Kudryavtseva, Indo-Swiss pair will ‘vie’ for the
fifth title at Madrid Open against Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
According to sources, Sania and Martina, apart from
playing the fifth time for the Madrid Open, have won titles in
Sydney, Brisbane, Australian Open and St. Petersburg this season. Their
competitor in the finals, that will take place on May 7, nominated to the
finals after beating Mladenovic beat Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina with
the score of 6-2,6-3.
