Bolpur: The first violence following the Assembly
Election Results that was declared on May 19 was registered at Birbhum’s
Nanoor, Hoogly’s Pandua, Burdwan City, in west Midnapore and at South 24
Parganas.
Reports are that two Trinamool workers, Burhan
Sheikh and Lal Sheikh are suspected of being shot by CPM workers yesterday. The
two people, who were going to a nearby market riding their bicycles, were shot by
few motorcycle-borne men. Also, while Burhan, 35, was shot at his waist,
another person Lal, aged 30, were shot at his right hand. Following this
shooting and violence, TMC district head Anubrata Mondal said: “After the CPM
won the Nanoor seat, they are perpetrating violence.” Another woman who is a
TMC worker’s wife was beaten up by some CPM people in Nanoor and was
hospitalized.
However, the blame game continues as CPM District
Secretary Mansa Hansda denied all the allegations and pointed to TMC’s internal
dilemmas at Birbhum. “Our party has no connection with the incident. It may be
the fallout of Trinamul infighting,” Haansda added.
In Hoogly’s Pandua, violence was registered too. A
50-people TMC team led by footballer Rahim Nabi had allegedly damaged two CPM
party offices and house of a local CPM leader. A third complaint from Burdwan
was lodged where former CPM MP Saidul Haque’s house was attacked.
