Delhi: In the second qualifier match of 2016 Indian premier League (IPL),
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Gujarat Lions by four wickets on Friday at Feroz
Shah Kotla in New Delhi, to reach the finals.
Winning
the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad elected to field first. In the first innings,
Aaron Finch was Gujarat Lions’ highest scorer with 50 runs. He was followed by
Brendon McCullum (32 runs), Dinesh Karthik (26 runs), Dwayne Bravo (20 runs)
and Ravindra Jadeja (19 runs). Jadeja remained not out. Ben Cutting was
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s best bowler of the day as he took two wickets off 20 runs
from three overs. Bharat Kumar also took two wickets off 27 runs from four
overs. At the end of the innings, Gujarat Lions scored 162 runs off eight
wickets.
In
the second innings, David Warner was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s highest scorer with
93 runs. He was followed by Bipul Sharma (27 runs), Moises Henriques (11 runs)
and Naman Ojha (10 runs). Warner and Sharma remained not out. Shivil Kaushik
was Gujarat Lions’ best bowler of the day, as he took two wickets off 22 runs
from four overs. Bravo also took two wickets off 32 runs from four overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad grabbed victory when they scored 163 runs off six wickets
in 19.2 overs.

was named ‘Player Of The Match’.

Hyderabad will now face Royal Challenger Bangalore in the finals on May 29 in
Bangalore. Sunrisers Hyderabad who debuted in IPL season six (2013), has made
it to the finals for the first time, thus ensuring their best performance in IPL
history yet. Royal Challengers Bangalore who have been playing since season one
in 2008, have made it to the finals thrice before, but have failed to win every
time. Whatever the result is, season nine of IPL is going to produce a new
winner.
