N. Korea Appoints New Foreign Minister

Seoul: North Korea has appointed Ri Yong Ho, 59, as its new Foreign Minister. Ho replaces Ri Su Yong, who was one of the highest profile leaders in the Kim Jong Un ruling North Korea.

Ri worked as a former ambassador to Britain and is likely to represent North Korean cases to the United Nations now. He was also the vice foreign minister and had represented his nation at six-party talks on North Korea’s nuclear programme that ‘fell apart after their last round in 2008,’ reports said.

However, the high profile ministry alterations were assumed by many as a change of the nation all over. Lee Ji-sue, a North Korea expert at South Korea's Myongji University has denied the assumption, saying: “Like Ri Su Yong who took orders from Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, Ri Yong Ho won't have much say in foreign policies.”
