‘He Sexually Assaulted A Child’: Susan Sarandon On Woody Allen

Cannes: Oscar Winner actor Susan Sarandon had a few things to say at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend, particularly when the conversation came to four-time Oscar winner actor and filmmaker Woody Allen.
Taking part in the Kering Women in Motion Talk for the 25th anniversary of Thelma and Louise, Sarandon was joined by her former co-star Geena Davis.
When asked by a reporter for her thoughts on Allen’s comments at the festival that he doesn’t feel he has “anything to really draw on” to make a film about a younger man and an older woman — considering that his filmography often features an older man wooing a much younger woman — Sarandon responded, “I have nothing good to say about Woody Allen, so I don’t think we should go there.”
But she went on, adding, “I think he sexually assaulted a child and I don’t think that’s right … It’s gotten very quiet in here, but that’s true.”
In 1993, Allen’s former girlfriend actor Mia Farrow accused Allen of sexually assaulting their adopted daughter Dylan when she was seven years old. Dylan herself brought the allegations back to life in a highly publicized 2014 blog post, which Allen vehemently denied.
But just last week, Allen’s son Ronan Farrow wrote a column that quickly went viral, calling out Hollywood for continuing to work with the famed director and excusing his history of abuse. Sarandon has been one of the few to speak against it.
