Baghdad: A suicide attack on a state-run gas plant
in Baghdad’s northern fringe on Sunday is feared of killing as many as 11
people, including security officers. The blast at the gas plant has also forced
two power stations to defer electricity production. The latest in a series of
deadly attacks committed by the terrorist group at Iraq, a recent development
have disclosed a total of 100 deaths due to the attacks. Baghdad Governor Ali
al-Tamimi confirmed the number of deaths following the attack.
According to the police, the Sunday attack had twin
blasts- one at the entrance of the gas plant and other in the facility. Reports
are that a second suicide bomber had detonated an explosive inside the plant
from the sex terrorists. Also all six forced to enter the plant, but the
security forces were able to resist them. Two terrorist made it to enter the
plant and carry out the explosion.
Rescue operation has started in war footing. Also,
police have deployed two military helicopters Taji military base to fight the terror
group. Police said that the blast had also left 24 people injured. The gas
plant was used to produce cooking gas cylinders. The attack was followed by the
government’s deployment of more security personnel at the plant. Handing over
weapons to the security officials of more capacity to fight such incidences has
also been announced.
