Delhi: On Wednesday, in the eliminator match of Indian Premier League (IPL)
2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 22 runs at the Feroz
Shah Kotla in New Delhi to enter the second qualifier match.
Having
won the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders elected to field first. Yuvraj Singh was
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s highest scorer with 44 runs. He was followed by Moises
Henriques (31 runs), David Warner (28 runs), Deepak Hooda (21 runs), Bipul
Sharma (14 runs) and Shikhar Dhawan (10 runs). Sharma remained not out. Rest
others couldn’t score in double digits. Kuldeep Yadav was Kolkata Knight
Riders’ best bowler of the day as he took three wickets off 35 runs from four
overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad ended the innings with scoring 162 runs off eight
wickets.
In
the second innings, Manish Pandey was Kolkata Knight Riders’ highest scorer
with 36 runs. He was followed by Gautam Gambhir (28 runs), Suryakumar Yadav (23
runs), Colin Munro (16 runs) and Robin Uthappa (11 runs). Bhuvneshwar Kumar was
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s best bowler of the day as he took three wickets off 19
runs from four overs.

Hyderabad will now take on the loser from the first qualifier, that is, Gujarat
Lions in the second qualifier of IPL Season 9 on May 27 in New Delhi. The
winner of the second qualifier will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the
finals.
