Mumbai: Within days of its poster
release, Ajay Devgn’s film Shivaay is
already in the midst of trouble. Certain groups have filed a legal
complaint against actor-producer Ajay for hurting religious sentiments with the
Shivaay poster.
The poster in question shows Ajay
Devgn rappelling down a mountain, with an ice pick in hand, seemingly ready to
do battle with monsters. In some photos, the pick looks like Lord Shiva’s trishul.
The two-time National Award winning actor
had released a teaser for the same on May 21, and then took to Twitter on
Sunday to share the film’s poster.
An advocate in Delhi has filed a case
against the four-time Filmfare award winning actor and the crew of his
directorial for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
The complainant claims that in the poster of the film, Ajay is shown climbing
on Lord Shiva’s figure with his shoes on and is also using an ice axe on the
head of lord Shiva, which has hurt the sentiments of Hindus, especially the
devotees of Lord Shiva.
However, a close look at the poster
and one can clearly see the 47-year-old actor hanging down the rappelling rope,
with a sickle in hand and ready to battle it out with what seems to be icy
monsters. The actor recently took to Twitter to share the blue-tinted poster,
which gives a hint of a whimsical storyline of his forthcoming film.
Neither Ajay nor his team has issued any statement
about the complaint so far. Shivaay is expected to release on
October 28, 2016.
