Mumbai: A chemical factory explosion at Domvili, a
Mumbai suburb, had killed five people and injured 100 more. The factory blast
took place on Thursday in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation
area in Thane district, Maharashtra. According to reports, the explosion took
place at around 11.45 am on Thursday. Owned by the Acharya Chemicals group in

The factory building was collapsed after the blast.
Residents of the area had said that the explosion lead to breathing problems due
to smell of gas and chemicals in the air for many following hours. A resident, Sumedh
Joshi, who stays about a mile away from the factory, said that the blast was so
strong that made their building shake. “First we thought it was an earthquake,
the way our building was shaking. Our window panes
shattered due to the blast and we quickly came out of our building,” Joshi
added.

service at the Domvili factory area. Police asserted that force was also
deployed in the area to continue the rescue operations. The officers also added
