New Delhi:  Two-times Olympic medal winner Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar was found missing from the list of Indian Olympics Association (IOA) for the Rio games in August following a new system of selection.  IOA confirmed the news: “Sushil’s name is not in the probables’ list we have received from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)”

Kumar, who have won both his Olympic medals at Beijing Olympics 2008 and London Olympics 2012 in the 66kg weight division, will now more to court demanding trials to decide right candidates for Rio Olympics.
The 32-year-old wrestling sensation’s participation in the Rio Olympics ‘that has been fuelled by compatriot’ Narsingh Pancham Yadav. Reports are that Yadav will play from the India quota in the weight category of 74kg. Amid the speculations, a raging debate over whether trials should be held in this category has started.

Narsingh, who have secured his place as wrestler in the first Olympic quota after he won a bronze medal at the world championship in Las Vegas at 2015, said: “Whoever is better and stronger of us (Sushil and Narsingh Yadav) must be sent to Rio. I am ready for trials. Then only we can determine who is stronger. Our government and federation have spent money on me for the past two years so that I can do something for the country.”

However, Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal asserted the players will be decided by WFI.
