Mumbai: Business conglomerate Tata Group has
announced to introduce an e-commerce portal at the end of this month, on May
27, called CLiQ. Tata CLiQ will be launched and will remain a section of Tata
Unistore, a new arm of the ‘salt to steel conglomerate’. CLiQ will initially
focus on apparel, electronics and footwear.
Ashutosh Pandey, Chief Executive Officer, Tata CLiQ
has officially announced about the ecommerce site. He said: “The 'Q' in the
logo represents a magnifying glass - a visual representation of the brand's
focus on curating only the best brands and products.”
Tata CLiQ, will be available to consumers from May
27 in all its official website, mobile site and mobile apps. CLiQ also had
planned to expand itself with added categories, brands and other exciting features
suitable to combat with other leading e-commerce portals like Flipkart and
Snapdeal in the next few months. Tata’s online journey follows Reliance Industries’
online fashion retail platform Ajio, introduced last month by the group.
According to a Goldman Sachs report released on
2015, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in India by 2030 will account a growth
of 2.5 percent. Over the last one decade, e-commerce is increasing in a faster
rate than that of the offline marketplaces in India. The current size of the
e-commerce market in India is now US $20 million depicts its growth prospect.
