Kolkata: In a recent
development of the sorrowful incident that Bengal climbers went missing and then
dead on their way to climb the Mount Everest, a six-member search team that
went to bring the bodies down, are stuck a kilometer away on the upper reaches
of Everest.
Reports are that bad
weather it is getting difficult for the Sherpas to bring down the bodies of
Subhas Paul and Paresh Nath. The search team, also comprising climber Goutam
Ghosh from West Bengal, has reported that they were able to trace the bodies
but is unable to reach the point.
Sources said that
Loben Expeditions, which had organized the trekking program for Paul and Nath,
has asserted: “Nath's body was found at an altitude of around 8,000m, near the
South Col. But it was so windy that the Sherpas could not bring him down.” Loben
expeditions also added that Paul’s body was found between Camp III
(7,200m) and Camp IV (7,950m) on Friday and had been brought down to Camp II
(6,400m).
Also, all the routes to Mt. Everest will be closed on
Sunday for the season because of the Kumbhu Icefall. This makes Saturday the
last option available for the search team to find the bodies and bring them back.
