Kolkata: A mother and a son were found lying dead in
the floor of their apartment, located at South Kolkata’s Survey Park on Monday
afternoon. The 35-year-old woman and the seven-year-old boy’s dead bodies,
Arpita Ghosh and Arko Ghosh respectively, were discovered as police broke open
the door of the flat where the wall was used to write suicide note.“My husband
is responsible for my death,” the wall showed, with speculations that the
twin-death was a result of domestic violence.
Reports are that police have arrested Arpita's
husband Tushar Ghosh, who is an engineer at a Sector V firm. Arpita’s family
has lodged a complaint against Tushar. Police has started to investigate the
case under IPC Section 306 (abetment to suicide). Arpita’s profession is
unknown while Arko was a class II student of a reputed school in south Kolkata.
However, police has asserted that Tushar is cooperating with them.
Police also noted that they were first informed by
the neighbors who saw smoke coming out from Ghosh’s flat accompanied with
burning flesh. Later, police found lot of kerosene on the floor and suspected
that the oil has been used and caused the twin death. The door was locked from
inside which had increased the speculations of third person involvement in the
case.
“The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. We are
not sure at this stage whether the boy was killed first and then set on fire.
This will become clear once the post-mortem report comes on Tuesday,” the
investigative officer in-charge has asserted.
