Sushil Kumar’s Plea for Olympic Selection Trials Issued Notice for WFI and Sport Ministry from Delhi HC

New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Tuesday has issued a notice to Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) regarding issuing a hearing to two-time Olympic winner Sushil Kumar who has sought a trial to decide the right candidate for Rio Olympics in the men’s 74 kg freestyle category.


Justice  Manmohan, who was supervising Kumar’s petition for trial, said:This court directs that in the meantime, the petitioner (Sushil) shall be given a hearing by the President, Vice President, Secretary and coach of respondent number 4 (WFI).” Also, the court has instructed to file affidavits as a response from the Sports Ministry and WFI. Next hearing will be on May 27.




The double Olympic winner, Sushil, has moved to court after he found his name was not in the final list of players representing India in the Rio Olympic, starting this September. According to reports, Sushil has been ‘insisting’ to send the best Indian representative to the quadrennial extravaganza. While Narsingh Pancham Yadav has asserted that he have performed better in the 74 kg freestyle category and that he is the right candidate to represent India in Rio.
