Malda: Three Killed While Making Bombs

Malda: On Monday, three persons were killed and four others were injured while they were allegedly making bombs in a house at Jaunpur in Malda district of West Bengal.
The incident occurred when bombs were being made in the house of one Giasu Seikh in the area bordering Bangladesh at about 1 AM, Superintendent of Police Syed Waqar Raza said. Three persons died on the spot and four others were seriously injured, he said, adding that ‘local rowdies’ were involved in the incident. Giasu was absconding. Polling was held in the district on April 17. The injured were admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
The incident took place before the ultimate sixth phase of the 2016 West Bengal Assembly elections on May 5. So far, elections have already been held in 269 of the 294 Constituencies in the state. The remaining 25 will vote on May 5 in ultimate phase six.
Meanwhile, at least 30 people of a marriage party including the bride and groom were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned near Maheshtala in Malda district, police said on Sunday. A mini-truck carrying 29 people turned turtle after a tyre of the vehicle burst. The marriage party was returning from Lakhsmi Narayanpur village in South Dinajpur district to Sitalpur village in Malda district last night, police said.
The bride and groom suffered fractures in their hands and legs in the accident. A total of 15 people were injured and have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital and the rest to a local health
centre.
