Director Paid Anupam Kher Double in debut film Kaanu

Actor Prabhat Bhattacharya’s debut film Kaanu, a sports-drama casting Veteran actor Anupam Kher as a football coach, had paid him higher than the contract.  The director said that he is very ‘impressed’ with Kher’s performance in his first film and confirmed that he was ‘double-charged’.

“There have been good interactions with Kher sahab in the last 7-8 months, and he understands this fact that we are working with a lot of dedication and like true professionals. We gave him the bound script a year back and he knew it was a good script,” Bhattacharya said.
Kaanu, produced by Sai Sapney Entertainment and presented by Gaurango Filmcraft Academy will feature Kher as a doting and dedicated Bengali football coach. Kher is named as Vishwajeet Sarkar in the film which will focus upon the ‘guru-shishya relationship.’
Reports are that the director himself will play the title role, the footballer Kaanu in the film. Kaanu will ‘trace the journey’ of the player, said Prabhat, famed TV actor of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev. Both of the television commercials are popular and occupy the prime-time of TV.
Kher, who have performed in as many as 400 films and plays in his career, is not working for the first time for a debutant actor. A flexible actor, Kher is famous for his roles in films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, A Wednesay, Silver Linings Playbook and many more.
