Veraval: Security agencies killed three out of ten
Pakistani terrorists, who infiltrated India via Gujarat early this month in
order to plan an attack on Somanth temple located in Veraval, Gujarat on the
eve of ‘Maha Shivaratri’.
Cops confirmed that at least ten
Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists may have entered India through
Gujarat. The terror alert, which was shared by Pakistani National Security
Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval, came ahead
of the Shivaratri festival. Three abandoned boats were spotted by the Border
Security Force (BSF) on the shores of the Kutch district. Additionally, a man has
been arrested after he was found taking photographs of the Bhuj Army base in
Gujarat.
Following the warning, several
cities across the country were put on high alert and malls and public places
were put under strict vigilance. Director General of Police (Gujarat) PC Thakur
cancelled the leave of all police officers and ordered them to resume duty
immediately. Security authorities increased vigilance in tier-two cities
including Lucknow, Jaipur, Vijayawada, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Panaji. Metros
like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore were already put under the scanner
of Intelligence Bureau officials.
In view of the terror
threat across Gujarat, the Gir Somnath district administration even postponed a
cultural event scheduled at the Somnath temple premises on March 6 and 7. Gir Somnath's
superintendent of police AM Muniya confirmed that more than 250 police officers
were deployed at the Somnath temple and different teams were formed “to check
all kinds of movements near the temple."
