CPI(M) May Probe Assets Accumulated By The CM’s Relatives

Kolkata: CPI(M) MP Md Salim on Thursday said that if his party is voted to power in the Assembly elections of West Bengal this year, then they would conduct a probe into alleged accumulation of assets by the relatives of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“We will recover crores of money accumulated by duping the poor. We know that they (TMC) are using ill-gotten money in the media also. We will probe everything,” Salim said. He also criticized BJP for keeping mum over the sting operation.
Salim alleged that there was a “secret understanding” between the BJP government at the Centre and the TMC-led state government, which has "influenced" the investigation into the Saradha scam. That was the reason also why no ‘FIR’ was lodged in the sting operation.
Speaking on the Narada sting operation, Salim said: “She has claimed that the footage is doctored. When did she become an expert on the matter? The Centre is also silent on the issue. I wonder why the State government is not verifying the authenticity of the footage. The verification can be done by the computer science department of any university. This is for the first time that MPs from West Bengal have been caught in such an act on camera”. “She and her party are opposing any kind of probe. It is evident that she wants to cover it up and would persecute whoever wants to bring out the truth,” he further added.
