Electricity Bill Payment To Be Made Easier In UP East By Vodafone

Lucknow:  India's leading telecommunications service company Vodafone has joined hands with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) to announce the launch of a facility wherein electricity consumers in UP East circle, will be offered cashless, secure and easy electricity bill payments using Vodafone M-Pesa mobile app. Customers of UPPCL spread across 73 towns in UP-East will be able to pay their electricity bills through Vodafone M-Pesa anytime, from anywhere.

The Business Head for UP East of Vodafone India, Nipun Sharma said: "Vodafone M-Pesa is delighted to offer a facility that will significantly simplify the process of monthly electricity bill payments for UPPCL customers. This partnership will assist in financial inclusion by extending the convenience of cashless bill payment to unbanked sections. No more standing in queues or spending precious time on electricity bill payments from now."

The innovative digital wallet service, Vodafone M-Pesa from Vodafone offers money transfer, bills and utility payments, merchant payments and business solutions with a network of 20,000 agents spread across various towns and villages in UP East, enabling instant transfer and receipt of money anytime.

The Director Commercial of UPPCL, Sanjay Kumar Singh said: “We are happy to announce this association with Vodafone M-Pesa. We value our consumers and strive to give them a user friendly service experience. With a pan India distribution network of over 120000 agents and with more than 4.5 million customers, Vodafone claims M-Pesa to be one of the largest banking business correspondents in the country.
