Mumbai: Salman Khan and
Sajid Nadiadwala are teaming up again after two years for the sequel to their
2014 film Kick, which is supposed go
on floors next year.
Nadiadwala's
directorial venture Kick was an
official remake of a Telugu movie of the same name. The action film, starring Khan
and Jacqueline Fernandez, turned out to be a blockbuster with a box-office
collection of Rs 377 crore.
Speaking on the sequel,
Sajid said: "We are still writing. It's at the scripting stage. It will
mostly happen next year. There is a pressure, but we are working hard on the
script."
In Kick, Khan played the role of ‘Devi Lal Singh’, a highly
intelligent but adventurous man who is always looking for a 'kick' in his life.
The 50-year-old actor had announced that Kick
2 will have a fresh pairing, and that Jacqueline won't be a part of the
sequel. Actresses Amy Jackson, Sonakshi Sinha and Kriti Sanon are being
speculated as the contenders for the leading lady’s role. But according to Nadiadwala,
nothing has been finalized yet.
Nadiadwala also has an
interesting slate of films lined up for release as a producer this year, like Baaghi starring Tiger Shroff and
Shraddha Kapoor, Dishoom starring
John Abraham and Varun Dhawan, Rangoon starring
Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, and the third installment of Housefull. On the other hand, Khan has only
one film to be released this year, Sultan,
co-starring Anushka Sharma and Randeep Hooda. It has Khan in the role of a
wrestler who faces hardships in his professional and personal life.
