New Delhi: The 63rd
National Film Awards was announced on Monday and it saw Bollywood stars win it
big as almost all the top categories were won by Bollywood stars and films.
Amitabh Bachchan
won the Best Actor award for Piku while
actress Kangana Ranaut won Best Actress for Tanu
Weds Manu Returns. This is Bachchan’s fourth award — he previously won the
award in 1990 for Agneepath, in 2005
for Black and in 2009 for Paa. As for Ranaut, it is her third
trophy at the National Awards, having earlier won Best Supporting Actress for Fashion in 2008 and Best Actress for Queen last year.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali
won the Best Direction award for Bajirao
Mastani. His film also won Best Supporting Actress (Tanvi Azmi), Best
Cinematography, Best Audiography –Sound Designer, Best Audiography – Re-Recordist
of the Final Mixed Track, Best Art Direction and Best Choreography.
Baahubali: The Beginning won the Best
Feature Film award. It also won the award for Best Special Effects. Shankhachil won the Best Feature Film in
Bengali while Dum Laga Ke Haisha won
the Best Feature Film in Hindi. Masaan
won The Best Debut Film of a Director for Neeraj Ghaywan. Margarita With A Straw won the Special Jury Award, while Bajrani Bhaijaan won the award for Best
Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Duronto won the Best
Children’s Film award while Fisherwoman and TukTuk won the Best
Animated Film award.
Monali Thakur and
Mahesh Kale won the Best Female and Male Playback Singer awards for Moh Moh Ke Dhaage (Dum Laga Ke Haisha)
and Aruni Kirani (Katyar Kaljat Ghusali)
respectively. Moh Moh Ke Dhaage also
won Best Lyrics award for Varun Grover.
Best Adapted Screenplay
honor went to Vishal Bhardwaj for real-life inspired crime drama Talvar, while the both the Best Original
Screenplay and Dialogues awards were shared between Juhi Chaturvedi (Piku) and Himanshu Sharma (Tanu Weds Manu Returns). Talvar also won Best Audiography –
Location Sound Recordist award.
