New ‘Trinamool Song’ Claims That Bengal's Face Has Changed In 5 Years

Kolkata: A music video by Trinamool Congress (TMC) released on Saturday claims that the face of West Bengal has changed in the last five years. It has gone viral over the internet and has been played around 70,000 times across various digital platforms since its release.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee released the video on her Facebook page on Saturday night, saying, "I am very happy to share the new music video 'The Trinamool Song' for the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections".
Ankhi Das, Public Policy Director of Facebook in India, said: "This is the first state election campaign song to make its debut on Facebook and has gone viral very quickly. It is remarkable how they have made it so catchy and apt for the digital medium."
The two-minute video has become the new party anthem. The song — "Paanch bochore bodle geche banglar mukh" (The face of Bengal has changed in the last five years) has been written and composed by Anupam Roy, best known for his songs in films like Autograph, Hemlock Society and Piku. Directed by Anindya Chatterjee, lead vocalist of Bangla band ‘Chandrabindoo’, the video highlights the work done by the Mamata Banerjee government after being voted to power in 2011.
TMC national spokesperson Derek O’Brien said: "The match has started and we are already batting well in the fourth over without losing any wicket. And the Opposition is still in the dressing room. We have the backing of the good work done by our government in the last five years.”
