Mount Abu

Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station and a major pilgrim centre, is located in the south-western corner of Rajasthan, close to Gujarat. It is situated at the average height of 1,219 meters above sea level and is like the oasis in the deserted land of Rajasthan. The history of Mount Abu is as diverse as the city itself. It was once a part of the Chauhan kingdom of Rajasthan and served as a summer resort for the Rajput kings of the region. After that, it was leased by the British government from then Maharaja of Sirohi for used as a head-quarter of the Rajputana (another name for Rajasthan). It is one of the most sought after tourist destination in India.
Mount Abu with its word-class tourist facilities with hotels ranging from budget class to three star and heritage provides a great holiday escape and honeymoon attraction. Every year more than three million national and international tourists visit Mount Abu enjoying its scenic beauty, rich flora & fauna as well as the marble art of Delwara Jain temples.
The lush greenery, sparkling water bodies and delightful wildlife makes for a refreshing change of scenery from most other parts of Rajasthan.
Mount Abu is not only about Jain temples and hills, it is also a great shopping place with an interesting options on its platter.  You simply can’t resist to shop for stuff like exquisite jewellery, colorful textiles (tie n dye), beautiful bangles, Kota sarees, eye catching Marble, Sandalwood and Sandstone work and exotic wooden artwork. Jaipuri quilts are great purchase as well.
The hill station is also a foodie’s delight with a world of restaurants offering dishes from almost every part of the globe.
Even though it is termed as an all year round destination, winter months are said to be the best to experience this hill station to the hilt. Monsoon season is also a great time to go to the Mount Abu. During rains the complete beauty of this place can be experienced due to the lush green surroundings.
Rent a bike in Mount Abu at around Rs 200-300 per day (fuel charges extra as per usage). It offers a cheap and flexible mode of moving around the town. Exploring Mount Abu on a motor bike is probably the best option if you are an adventure lover. Every destination in Mount Abu is easily accessible by the motorbike.

Places of interest in Mount Abu are Dilwara temples, Toadrock, Nakki Lake, Sunset Point, Brahma Kumari’s Universal Peace Hall and University, Guru Shikhar, Honeymoon Point, Shanker Math, Gaumukh, Trevors Tank, Gyan Sarovar, Adhar Devi temple. Achalgarh, Shri Raghunathji temple, Peace Park, Maa Ambika temple, among others.
