Uber Driver Shot and Killed 6 in Michigan City

A 45-year-old taxi driver, Jason Brian Dalton registered with cab aggregator Uber was arrested by police on Saturday evening for randomly shooting and killing six people in Michigan City. Two of them including a 14-year-old girl are seriously ill and have been admitted to the hospital.

Uber said that Dalton is their registered driver. They confirmed that they had made a thorough inspection and police verification before his joining to the company. A local resident said he experienced a hair-raising ride in Dalton's car shortly before the first incident, which prompted him to call the police.

Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said that “we are heartbroken and horrified at the senseless violence.” He assured that the driver will go through multiple court sessions and is likely to face first degree murder and attempted murder when he appears in the court on Monday.

Michigan police have confirmed that the killings took place outside three different locations and within a time span of five hours. Investigations will continue, as asserted by the police officers to find out the exact motive and if Dalton had taken fares between the attacks. Police found weapons in his car.
