With five wins in six Twenty20 internationals, India
has probably selected their performing XI for the upcoming Asia Cup starting
February 24. But with the ICC World Twenty20 three weeks away, the tournament
in Bangladesh allows the Indian team one last shot at zeroing in on their best
combination as well as testing out the strength, reports EXIN Times.
According to reports, after the landmark 3-0 sweep
of Australia and 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka in the space of a couple
weeks, India’s performing team is almost finalized. The Indian cricket
team skipper, M.S. Dhoni though has commented for Ajinkya Rahane’s place in the
team. Rahane is held in high regards for his scores in T20. Apart from that,
India has Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandey, and Dhoni to play out when
there will be need of big and quick runs.
Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah and Pandya have been
India's preferred pace bowlers for Asia Cup. Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav
and Varun Arora being the other choices have created a faith among the
management. Though Bhuvneshwar Kumar had put up a poor in performance 2015, is
a third choice between Nehra and Bumrah.
Pawan Negi didn’t capture attention when he was
named in India's squads for the Asia Cup and World Twenty20. However Dhoni
doesn’t want to enter a tournament like the World Twenty20 with players who
haven't cut their teeth at international level.
