Tata Motors is going to launch India’s first indigenous robot, Tata Brabo, in two months from now.

Brabo has been developed by an in-house team of six engineers whose average age is 24 years. The team is being led by Anil Bhingurde, the chief operating officer of Tata Automation Limited (TAL). The development cost of the project has been set at INR 10crore.
The robot was designed was styled from Tata Elxi. Some of its parts were manufactured at Tata AutoComp and the project was financed by Tata Capital.
A presentation on the company’s robotic venture was made by Bhingurde for the former vice-chairman and managing director of TATA Motors, Ravi Kant. Speaking about the program at the presentation, Bhingurde said: “These are made in India, made for India. The idea is to drive automation in the market by offering affordable and cost-effective solution.”
According to International Federation of Robotics, the market’s demand for big robots in India is 1,000 annually, and it is expected to rise to 5,000 in the next year. Bhingurde added that the creation of a new entry is likely to grow 10 times in five years to 15,000.
