Success and Priyanka Chopra seem to be synonymous now with the 33-year-old
actress being cast in the film adaptation of Baywatch on Tuesday.
Actor, producer, and semi-retired professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson,
aka The Rock took it to his Instagram account to post a video which announced the
former Miss World’s inclusion in the film, where she is going to star as the
film’s villain. Johnson’s post read, “She's one of the biggest stars in the
world. Insanely talented, relentlessly smokin' and extremely dangerous -
perfect for Baywatch.”
Chopra is making a roar in the international scenario for her portrayal
of Alex Parrish in the TV series Quantico,
for which she won the Favorite Actress In A New TV Series at the 42nd People’s
Choice Award in January this year. She also has been recently announced as one
of the 13 award presenters for the 88th Academy Awards.
The Baywatch movie,
with Johnson, Alexandra Daddario and Zac Efron also in the cast, is
based on the popular syndicated series about Southern California lifeguards.
Starring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, it ran for 11 seasons starting
in 1989.
The shooting for the film starts from today and is slated for a 2017
release.
Social media is buzzing since the announcement, and Priyanka Chopra, who
is one of the most followed people on Twitter with more than 12 million fans,
had congratulations pouring in on her from her home country and the world
alike.
