Kat Is On The Rise As Piggy Chops & Deepika Ventures Into West

As two of the biggest Bollywood actresses get busy in the west, the path for another B-Town’s leading lady becomes less crowded. Yes, Katrina Kaif now has more chances of bagging greater roles in India as two of her contemporaries, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone get busy on the international front.
Priyanka Chopra is riding high with her debut TV series, ‘Quantico’, which is garnering rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and which recently won her the ‘Favorite Actress In A New TV Series’ at the 42nd People’s Choice Awards in January, 2016. Not to forget, she also has her international singing career, which although she hasn’t spoken much about recently, but fans are waiting for her next single anyway. So, that should also keep the 33 year old Miss World busy in the west for the time being. She currently has only one Bollywood release - the much anticipated ‘Jai Gangaajal’, and another film ‘Ventilator’, where she is the producer. She would also make a cameo appearance in the movie.
Coming to Deepika Padukone, she is currently shooting for her first international venture in films – opposite Vin Diesel in ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.’ The 30 year old three time Filmfare award winning actress is not involved with any upcoming Bollywood projects post the release of ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
This leaves Katrina with a clear ground. The 32 year old actress recently said, “I have realized it recently that as everyone is going to Hollywood my competition is becoming really less. So, now is the time for me to sit here and by default get the roles which will become more available. I think now is the time to capitalize on the good characters”. She has three big releases in this year already – ‘Fitoor’, ‘Jagaa Jasoos’ and ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. ‘Fitoor’ is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ celebrated novel Great Expectations, where Katrina is playing Firdaus (Estella) in the film. Katrina further said she would stay back and take up ‘risky’ projects like the Kashmir-based love saga. “I am happy doing good roles here. Fitoor is more of a risky film. It does not have the usual dance and song routine. And one needs courage to do and make a film like this”, she further added.
This means other people’s international ventures might as well let Katrina bag some of the most powerful films back home. When others are busy with Hollywood, Katrina’s strategy or desire to score home run shall serve as the key to do greater films for her which will give her the chance to show that she can be a powerhouse performer.
