Indian Railways Now Lets You Book Personalized Takeaway Bed Sheets, Pillows and Blankets

The Indian railway is enhancing their services, the Indian railways has launched a takeaway bed roll scheme to enable passengers book bed sheets, pillow and blankets online, at minimum cost. 

Today, only passengers in the AC coaches are given bed linen which is supposed to be left in the train. 'Personalized takeaway bedrolls scheme', the personalized scheme by the Indian railway is also called the e-bedroll services scheme, as passengers with a valid PNR can book online. The bedrolls are allowed to take home by the users after the journey. There will be two types of kits available, one costing Rs 110 and other Rs 140, according to reports.  

Officials say that passengers can buy the bed roll at Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) outlets at the station or book it online from IRCTC's official website.  The payment has to be done online itself. It can be booked 60 days in advance or even up to five hours before the departure of the train. The booking can be canceled or amended through the same website with a registered Identity Proof, but cancellation should be done five hours prior to the time of departure. Passengers can avail 20% refund as the cancellation charges will apply to the process.

As of yet, the scheme is only available at Chennai Central railway station and Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station. It will be extended to other stations soon.
