The
Ghaziabad Police today arrested five persons in connection with Snapdeal
employee Dipti Sarna's kidnapping case. One of the accused is known to the
family, according to sources.
The
24-year-old Snapdeal executive, who was allegedly abducted from Ghaziabad area
of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, returned to her home, ending a 36-hour rescue and
search operation launched by the local police.
Police
investigations have also revealed the involvement of a stalker who was in a one
sided love relationship with the Snapdeal employee. All 5 arrested are from
Haryana, the police say, and the man who plotted the kidnapping was identified
as Devendra, who escaped from jail. On February 10 evening, Dipti left her
Snapdeal office in Gurgaon for her home in Ghaziabad. She took an auto rickshaw
from outside the Vaishali metro station. The auto rickshaw driver, who was
known to Devendra, dropped her at a secluded place. Dipti told the police that
she was blind folded by her kidnappers. Dipti said that she was not sexually assaulted
by the kidnappers.
A
couple of days later, Dipti called her family to say that she was safe and was
on a train to Delhi. She told the police that the kidnappers took care of her
and gave her food. No ransom call was made to Dipti's family.
She
told the police that she was kidnapped by four people at knife-point. She also
said the kidnappers provided her food and took care of her. Her kidnapping
created quite a buzz in social media where an online Twitter campaign was
started by the name of #HelpFindDipti.
