A former
employee of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) who used to work for The
Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) Magazine has allegedly accused R.K.Pachauri
for sexually harassing her and making obscene comments to her and many other
female employees of the company. The Delhi woman while lodging a complaint to
the police against Pachauri has claimed that “There were many more women in the
organization that faced similar harassment but they were unobtrusive about
going public with the issue”.
Exclusive reports to EXIN Times had stated the woman had also pointed out to the TERI organization for not letting
them sentient about the Visakha Guidelines that were being laid down by the Supreme
Court several years prior to these incidents. She said that neither the HR
Department nor the management at TERI had informed her or any of the other
employees about any system, such as the Internal Complaints Committee, to deal
with matters of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The victim
said to EXIN Times that “when I started facing harassment I remember I used to say that other
colleagues including people from the HR team who were suffering the same
treatment from Pachauri, about taking some action against him”. She explained
her disgust by saying “It had become evident to me that the man, as old as my
father, was looking for opportunities to be alone with me and make physical
contact.”
The
ex-employee said that she filled several complaints against Pachauri but no
action was taken. Rather the accused was been rewarded with promotion and
higher ranks at TERI which is an evident mockery for law and order. Ever since
the FIR against Pachauri came under consideration, the woman said all her
efforts to have her statement recorded had been obstructed by the police.
Attempts to contact police for their confirmation in this issue were
unsuccessful.
