A recent report published on Thursday
against the candidates of the sixth phase of the Assembly Election, said that
as many as 15 candidates are crorepatis
and 33 have criminal cases against them.
The report, published by Association for Democratic
Reforms (ADR), said: “Out of the 169 candidates analyzed, 15 are crorepatis. The average of assets per
candidate contesting in phase six of the West Bengal assembly elections is Rs
57.24 lakh.”
The ADR report also put forward a breakup of the contesting
political parties and the number of crorepatis
in it. “Eight out of 24 are fielded by Trinamool Congress (TMC), one out of 25
candidates are from BJP, one out of four candidates are from Congress, one out
of four candidates backed by AIFB, one out of eight of CPIM and two out of 24
independent candidates have declared their assets worth more than a crore,” the report released.
Also, six candidates from BJP hold a criminal case
against them, nine candidates from AITC, three from CPIM, two of AIFB, one
candidate from the INC and two independent candidates have recorded criminal
cases against them. These candidates have furnished affidavits supporting their
record.
Sources said that the ADR report have also disclosed
the educational qualification of the total candidates showing 71 have education
qualification to be between 5th pass and 12th pass, while 58 have declared
having a qualification of graduate or post-graduate professional.
