Bijnor: Two men have
been detained in connection with the murder of National Investigation Agency (NIA)
officer Mohammed Tanzil Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh.
The two men were detained
from Bareilly and Sahaspur Districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Police
had on Wednesday said that the investigations and analysis of evidences are
pointing at some personal angle behind the murder Tanzil Ahmed.
Ahmed, an officer with the
National Investigation Agency was shot dead last Sunday, April 3. Two persons
on a motor cycle waylaid the vehicle the officer was in and shot him 21 times.
His wife was also injured in the attack, being shot four times but his children
escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile the UP police have
taken into custody one person who is a relative of Ahmed. Sources say that this
person could have hired the two hitmen to carry out the murder of Ahmed.
Sources also say that they had found that the incident took place due to a
dispute over the settlement of a property. NIA officials also said that the
possibility of the murder taking place due to professional reasons looks
extremely remote.
Ahmed, 45, was investigating
a host of terror cases including some against suspected ISIS sympathizers. A joint
team of security agencies has been investigating whether his murder was linked
to his work.
The NIA, Uttar Pradesh Police
and other security agencies are together investigating the case, but Ahmed's
family has requested a CBI inquiry, saying that they were not contended with the
progress in the case.
Ahmed was on his way back from
the marriage ceremony of his niece, when the attack took place.
