New Delhi: In the
seventh League stage match of 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi
Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets at Feroz Shah Kotla in New
Delhi.
Winning the toss, Delhi
Daredevils elected to field first. Manan Vohra was Kings XI Punjab’s highest
scorer with 32 runs. He was followed by Pardeep
Sahu (18 runs), Mohit Sharma (15 runs), Shaun Marsh (13 runs) and Axar Patel
(11 runs). Sahu remained not out till the end. Amit Mishra took four wickets
for Delhi Daredevils after giving off 11 runs from three overs. At the end of
20 overs, Kings XI Punjab scored 111 runs off nine wickets.
In the second innings, Quinton
de Kock scored the highest runs for Delhi Daredevils with 59 runs. He was
followed by Sanju Samson who scored 33 runs. Kock remained not out till the end
of the innings. Sandeep Sharma was Kings XI Punjab’s best bowler of the night.
He took one wicket off six runs from two overs. Patel took one wicket off 25
runs from three overs. Delhi Daredevils clinched victory after it scored 113
runs off two wickets in just 13.3 overs.
Mishra was named
‘Player Of The Match’.
Kings XI Punjab will
next face Rising Pune Supergiants on April 17 in Hyderabad, whereas Delhi
Daredevils will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on the very same day in
Mumbai.
Reigning champion
Mumbai Indians will face current group leader with four points, Gujarat Lions
today in New Delhi.
