Noida: Hiring activity recorded a 22
percent increase in March 2016 against the same month last year, a report by
jobs portal Naukri said on Tuesday.
According to the Naukri Job Speak
Index, hiring sentiment improved in the automobiles and pharma sectors, with
the index reporting a jump of 19 percent and 16 percent respectively in March
2016 over March 2015. The Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI)
sector has recovered from a negative index last month to a 5 percent growth in
the March 2016 index, it said. While the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and
hospitality sectors recorded an increase of 25 per cent growth, construction,
and oil and gas witnessed a decline of 8 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
Demand for professionals in
Information Technology (IT) Software and Information Technology Enabled
Services (ITES) has seen sustained growth in the last few months and for March 2016,
professionals in these industries saw their jobs grow by 25percent and 48percent
respectively. Increase in demand for Sales and Business Development
professionals was also seen during the period from March 2015 to March 2016
where the index fluctuated a bit during the year but ended with a 17percent
growth. Demand for banking professionals also reported a 20 percent Year-on-Year
(Y-o-Y) growth in March 2016.
Among the metros, Hyderabad leads the
city list in hiring activity with a 50 percent Y-o-Y growth in March 2016 over
March 2015 followed by Mumbai and Chennai with 45 percent and 43 percent growth
respectively. Delhi/National Capital Region (NCR) reported an increase of 42 percent
in hiring activity in March 2016 over March 2015.
