Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court said that it will
pass an order next Friday in order to collect the tapes and other devices used
to make the Narada sting video showing Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and MPs
taking money. The HC has also asserted on Wednesday that all the tools and
devices used will go through a forensic test ‘to ascertain the genuineness of
the videos,’ should be presented to the court.
The division bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur
and Justice A Banerjee said that they will pass an order and observe all the
recordings, date and time and when the tapes were first derived, the pen drive
and a mobile phone that was allegedly used to record the monetary
transactions been made to operate the
Narada sting, said reports.
Following the lawyers who appeared in the court in
support of the TMC leaders claiming ‘why the tapes were uploaded during
elections and whether material from an iPhone could be admitted as evidence
should be considered before the footage was sent to the laboratory’ was denied
by the justice bench.
Chief Justice Chellur said: “This court will send
the documents to verify their authenticity first. Then other matters will be
decided. Only after receiving the report will this court decide about the
maintainability of the case. It will also decide whether the issue will be sent
to a criminal court or any agency for investigation....Common people should
know whether the incident was authentic or not.” She also added that the court
will pass an order on Friday for forensic test.
Asked about the time the sting videos were released,
Narada News chief editor Mathew Samuel presented all the details of the tapes
including people associated with the video and the how much time it took to
shoot the video.
