Kolkata: In the second
league stage match of 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders
defeated Delhi Daredevils by nine wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
Kolkata Knight Riders
won the toss and elected to field first. Quinton de Kock was Delhi Daredevil’s
highest scorer with 17 runs. He was followed by Sanju Samson (15 runs), Pawan
Negi (11 runs) and Carlos Ricardo Brathwaite (11 runs). Rest of the players
couldn’t score in double-digits. Brad Hogg and Andre Russell took three wickets
each for Kolkata Knight Riders, whereasJohn Hastings and Piyush Chawla took two
wickets each for Kolkata Knight Riders. The Daredevils were all out by 17.4
overs and could score a total of 98 runs.
In the second innings,
Gautam Gambhir was Kolkata Knight Riders’ highest scorer with 38 runs. He was
followed by Robin Venu Uthappa (35 runs) and Manish Pandey (15 runs). Both
Gambhir and Pandey remained not out. Amit Mishra took the sole wicket for Delhi
Daredevils. Kolkata Knight Riders snatched victory by 14.1 overs after scoring
99 runs off one wicket.

Russell was adjudged ‘Player Of The Match’.
Kolkata Knight Riders
will next face reigning champions Mumbai Indians on April 13, while Delhi
Daredevils will take on Kings XI Punjab on April 15. Kolkata Knight Riders now
stands at two points along with Rising Pune Supergiants at the leader-board.
Kings XI Punjab will
take on Gujarat Lions today at Mohali.
