CBI Arrested AAP Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar Alleging 50-Crore Scam

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar and Deputy Secretary Tarun Sharma were arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) for being in connection with Rs. 50 crore scam to different contracts.

CBI alleged that Kumar was linchpin of several scams that took place between 2006 and 2014, when he was holding positions of the Delhi Government. However, Kumar has denied all the allegations against him and said that the main target here is Delhi Chief Minister Arvind kejriwal.
“The main target is Arvind Kejriwal in this (Rajendra Kumar's arrest). They want to paralyze the government. You are targeting all the officers without permission, not allowing anyone to grow.. Rajendra Kumar is just an excuse, the main target is Arvind Kejriwal,” said the AAP Principal Secretary following his arrest.
AAP party heads, including Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was found furious against the step taken by CBI. Sisiodia even said that the arrest is a part of a plan that the Narendra Modi-led government is hatching to paralyze the Delhi Government.

Reports are that CBI has charged Kumar for abusing his position to award contracts to M/s Endeavour Systems Pvt. Ltd., an IT Solutions and software company. He was securing government tenders worth Rs. 9.5 crore between 2007 and 2014 for the company.
