New Delhi: The 47th International Film
Festival of India (IFFI) 2016, Goa, for the first time, will
feature films which had failed to hit the silver screen on time.
The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has
therefore called for entries on uncensored cinemas for the Indian Panorama which
were produced in the last one year- from September 1, 2015 to August 31, 2016.
To widen their message of this significant move, IFFI has
published an official newspaper advertisement. It was also made clear in the
advertisement that both feature and non-feature films, along with the
uncensored films, finished during the last one year of span, are eligible to
take part in the Indian Panorama Section of IFFI.
An official from the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF)
has noted that, “This is also the first time that the festival has called on
uncensored films to be submitted.” He also stated that the films have to apply online
for screening. But a ‘stamped and signed hard copy has to be printed and sent
along with the requisite material to the DFF.’
Films can be submitted for the festival till September 6
while hard copy of films will be accepted till September 13. IFFI had
specifically pointed to input English subtitles in all the films wishing to
take part in the festival in their official website. It was also stated in the website
that among the films, only two will be selected for competition section of
IFFI.
Official sources of IFFI said to EXIN Times that the films
finally selected for Indian Panorama Festival will be featured within the
country and abroad, in various International Film Festivals, Film Weeks, Indian
Panorama Festivals and other non-commercial screenings. IFFI is held in Goa every
year.
