Pune: Michelle Kakade, a 47-year-old Pune woman has
cemented her name in the Guinness Book of World Records for travelling the Indian
Golden Quadrilateral by foot. She has finished 5968.4 km of distance, spreading
across the four Indian metro-cities in 193 days, one hour and nine minutes on
foot.
Reports are that Michelle has got her award and
certificates from Guinness authorities on Thursday, but after strict
verification made by the officials. With this, she also became the first person
to complete the Golden Quadrilateral on foot.
Michelle is a mother of two and wife of Pune-based
businessman Anil Kakade. Her path, the Indian Golden Quadrilateral, is a
highway network, made during Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s time in
power to connect the four major metros- Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
The Guinness certificate has noted Michelle as the fastest
time to travel the Indian Golden Quadrilateral on foot by a female in 193 days,
one hour and nine minutes and was achieved by Michelle Kakade (India) between
21 October 2015 and 1 May 2016,’
“I’m thrilled that my attempt has been recognized by
the Guinness Book of World Records. This is my first world record and I’m
truly inspired,” said Michelle flaunting her trophy, awards and certificates. a
triple record holder of the Limca Book of World Records and successful
participant of full and half marathon races, Michelle had dedicated her
achievement to the women of India who are struggling everyday just to survive.
“They are battling every day for survival purely on the basis of their gender,”
she added.
