Mumbai: In a recent development the Mumbai police have
asserted that they will submit their Dr. Zakir Naik on Dr. Zakir Naik by next
week. Mumbai police was asked by the Maharashtra state government to submit a
complete report on Naik, who is a declared Islamic preacher and have alleged for
addressing provocative speeches.
“The report is in the final stages of preparation and it is
likely to be submitted by next week,” said a police officer from Mumbai police
department on Friday. He also added that the department would have submitted
their report earlier this week, but the arrest of Arshi Qureshi forced them to
wait for additional inputs.
Arshi Qureshi was a member of Naik’s Islamic Research
Foundation and was associated with other such works. He was arrested on Friday.
“This arrest delayed the process. We are waiting for the ATS report. The
information they provide to us will be incorporated in our probe report,” added
another officer.
Zakir Naik is a tele-evangelist, who was regularly seen in
Peace TV channel, addressing Islamic statements. With lakhs of audiences across
the globe, Naik is quite popular among the youths. His speeches and related
activity came under scanner after the Dhaka attack by terrorist group ISIS took
place earlier this month.
