Kolkata: On Friday, The Met
department forecasted heavy rains for the next two days in the metropolis and
districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal after days of rain scarcity.
There was, however, little or no
rainfall in different parts of the state on Friday. While the hill town of
Darjeeling recorded 9.1 mm rainfall, the Met department said adding, in
Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri, the rainfall amounted to 11.4 mm and 6.7 mm
respectively.
Gangetic West Bengal went almost dry
throughout the day as high humidity caused discomfort among the
denizens. The weatherman has forecast heavy rains in the districts of
Darjeeling, Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri in the next three to four days.
In Gangetic West Bengal, Kolkata is
likely to experience heavy rainfall in the next couple of days along with
coastal areas, while in the interior districts, thunderstorms or one or two
spells of rain might occur.
