Three Indian Drug Firm Got Permission to Sell High Value Cholesterol Drug

New Delhi: Three Indian drug companies- Sun Pharma, Glenmark and Aurobindo have received approval from US health regulator Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to sell the generic version of cholesterol drug Crestor in the US market.


Reports are that the positive nod by USFDA for the three domestic drug firms will elevate revenue generation of the drug companies, as a data showed that Crestor has had annual sales of $6.8 billion in the United States in the last one year. Sun Pharma, Glenmark and Aurobindo will sell the drug consisting 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg power.
Crestor is used among patients who suffer from high cholesterol and triglycerides count in blood and helps in preventing health complications like heart disease and strokes. Sources said that following the approval, Sun Pharma shares rose by 1.89 percent, while Aurobindo Pharma and Glenamrk Pharma leaped high and increased to 5.09 per cent and 2.39 per cent respectively.
