Brasilia: Gisele Bundchen may be putting her
runway retirement aside for the Olympics!
The 35-year-old Brazilian supermodel will hit
the catwalk at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Word is
that the Brazilian beauty will represent her home country in the opening
ceremony at Maracana Stadium on August 5th.
The runway icon, who has two children with
quarterback husband Tom Brady, last strut her stuff in the Colcci Ready to Wear
Spring/Summer 2016 Fashion Show in Sau Paolo, Brazil in April last year.
She has since spent much of her time
campaigning for environmental issues, but hasn’t completely abandoned the
fashion world. In May, she attended Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel show in Havana, and
last week she revealed her steamy new Givenchy Jeans campaign on Instagram.
While the former Victoria's Secret Angel has not hit a runway since retiring
last April, she’s hardly stayed away from the fashion scene. Bündchen continues
to serve as a brand ambassador for Chanel fashion and beauty. She has also
posed for major labels over the past year, including Carolina Herrera, Emilio
Pucci, Balenciaga and Under Armour.
The supermodel will jump-start the
festivities by strutting her stuff through the gateway at Maracanã Stadium for
the opening ceremony.
Since 2004, Bundchen has been the
highest-paid model in the world, and as of 2007 was the 16th richest woman in
the entertainment industry. In 2012, she placed 1st on the
Forbes top-earning models list. In 2014, she was listed as the 89th
Most Powerful Woman in the World by Forbes.
