Medina, Two More Cities in Saudi Arabia Attacked By Suicide Bombers, 4 Killed, No Terror Group Claimed Responsibility

Beirut: Three locations, including the holy city of Medina was shaken due to serial blasts in less than 24 hours in Saudi Arabia, killing four security officers and injuring five more. The attacks are being associated with the series of bombing taking place worldwide in the holy month of Ramadan.

Reports are that the first blast took place early morning in Jeddah near the U.S Consulate. No casualty was reported after the attack but few policemen guarding there were injured. The attacker killed himself in the bombing. The bomber was a Pakistani called Abdullah Qlazar Khan. Khan was a 34-year-old man and was living in Jeddah with his family for the last 12 years.
The second attack took place in Qatif, a city in eastern Saudi Arabia. The suicide bomber there attempted to launch an attack at a Shiite mosque but failed and killed him. No casualty was reported due to the attack.
The third attack at Medina was the worst where death toll is also rising. Medina is one of the major spot of the Islam after Mekka. The explosion in Medina, as it was said by local people, was so strong that it made sound of a canon. Qari Ziyaad Patel, 36, from South Africa, said that the floors shook due to the bombing.

Though no terrorist group has claimed responsibility of the attacks, but suspicion is likely to be on the Islamic State (IS). Investigative officers said that the pattern, in which the blast was conducted, ‘bore the hallmarks’ of IS. The terrorist group has declared Americans, members of the Shiite Muslim minority, and the Saudi security services as their enemies. Also, with four attacks less than a week across the world in different locations has raised the security questions in the holy month of Ramadan. Speculations about the capacity of the terrorist group are also at centre.
