Mumbai:
One of all time favorite Indian series, Sarabhai
Vs Sarabhai has once again given a ray of hope to its fans, by hinting that
it is coming back to our screens.
The popular show of the early 2000’s is all set to be back but not
on television.
On Tuesday, the entire team gathered to celebrate Satish
Shah’s belated 65th birthday and producer Jamnadas Majethia took to
Twitter to share a group photograph. He also hinted at some ‘good news’
for the show’s fans.
Apparently, they discussed the idea of bringing back the iconic TV
show and unanimously decided that it should return as a web series.
Sumeet, who played the role of Sahil also posted a video of the team singing
the title song of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.
The
sitcom revolved around a quintessential upper-class Gujarati family which
featured Maya (Ratna Pathak Shah), her husband Indravadan (Satish Shah), their
daughter-in-law Monisha (Rupali Ganguly) and their sons, Sahil (Sumeet Raghavan)
and Rajesh Kumar (Roshesh) . The show aired from November 8, 2004 to March 10,
2006 for a total of 69 episodes.
The
running gags of the show included middle-class Monisha, Roshesh’s poetry,
Maya’s sophistication, Inravadan’s hatred for Roshesh, among others.
The
show went on to win five Indian Telly Awards and five Indian Television Academy
Awards. Previously, Sarabhai season 2 was planned but now it is cancelled as
the stars of the show are busy with other works. In the final episode, the
principal characters are seen stating that there would be another season of the
series. However, in 2012, reports of it returning were rubbed off. But with
producer Jamnadas Majethia promising some good news about the show’s return,
fans are going gaga over social media.
The
show has gained cult following since the first episode.
