Kolkata: Masiuddin alias Musa, 25, was remanded for 14-day
of police custody by a court in Howrah in suspicion of having connection with
terrorist group Islamic State (IS) on Wednesday. Musa was detained by Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) from Burdwan railway station on Monday.
As the EXIN Times sources have depicted, following the
interrogation by police, Musa has allegedly revealed ‘link with foreign
extremists, including IS.’ He was arrested by the police while he is on his way
to his home at Labhpur, in Birbhum district.
Musa is a native of Labhpur, but used to live in Tamil
Nadu’s Tirupur with his wife and children and worked in a local grocery shop
there. Police has also seized a 13-inch machete and a firearm from Musa, as CID
Deputy Inspector General Dilip Kumar Adak revealed to EXIN Times.
Apart from CID, intelligence agencies from West Bengal
state authority and Central Government and National Investigation Agency (NIA)
has been questioning him. The investigating officers are working to gather more
information in order to prove connection from his mobile data.
Reports are that Musa is the second person after Ashik
Ahammed alias Raja, who was arrested by NIA in March for being an ‘IS
facilitator’ from Hoogly’s Dhaniakhali.
Following the Dhaka café attack, security has been
heightened in West Bengal, especially the districts close to indo-Bangladesh
border. Musa’s arrest came in the wake following the attack has further
intensified alerts and security aspects.
