AIB Row: Maharashtra Police Watching Tanmay in Plainclothes after MNS’s Threat

Mumbai: With escalating controversies following All India Bakchod’s (AIB) mocking video over Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar took a new turn. Reports are that policemen in plainclothes are ‘tailing’ the standup comedian Tanmay Bhat. Tanmay, who is also a co-founder of AIB, is receiving continuous threats from Maharasthr Navnirman Sena (MNS) after release of the spoof video.

“While security cover has not been extended to Bhat, policemen in plainclothes are watching his movements to ensure he is not roughed up by anyone,” said police officers from Mumbai. Significantly, ‘a private person deemed to have a threat perception,’ can have two to four armed security personnel. In that case, the state government bears the expenses.
Mumbai police on Tuesday has asserted that they have approached to social networking website Facebook and search engine Google and asked them to delete the video. The police later had noted that any content available of the video or the video itself if present in internet mow, is very likely to be posted through proxy servers. “On Monday, we had requested Google and Facebook to delete the video but after it went viral, we suspect mischief-mongers would have downloaded it and, through proxy servers, are posting it on the Internet. The cyber cell has been asked to delete these links,” Mumbai police added.

Also on Tuesday, a group of Mumbai police, who are investigating the case, went through the video. The officers said that ‘expletives’ were used a couple of time but it is not the right time to call for Bhat.
