Aboard The Papal Plane: On Sunday, Pope Francis said that
the Roman Catholic Church should ‘seek forgiveness’ from homosexual people for
the way they were treated them. The pope, who was in a quick visit to Armenia,
spoke about gay people, homosexuality and child labor in his flight back to Rome.
The pope said that it had turned ‘a blind eye to child labor’ and ‘blessed
so many weapons’ in the past.’
The pope was engaged into hour-long conversations and
discussed several issues apart from gays and child labor. Reports are that
these conversations have become a trademark of his international flights.
Pope Francis’ support to gay and homosexuals were an answer
to a reporter’s asked that if he agreed with recent comments by a Roman
Catholic cardinal from Germany that the Church should apologize to gays and
that and apology should be for the killing of 49 people at a gay club in
Florida earlier this month. “They should be respected, accompanied pastorally,”
he added.
The pope also stated that he would seek forgiveness from
women and children who are getting exploited continuously: “The questions is:
if a person who has that condition, who has good will, and who looks for God,
who are we to judge? Who am I to judge?”
The Pope’s comments were hailed in several countries and communities.
