Baby Exchanged At ESI Manicktala; FIR Lodged Against Hospital Authority, Two Group D Staffs Temporarily Suspended

Kolkata: Following the interchanging of babies at the Manicktala ESI hospital that came into notice early on Sunday, the 28-year-old Krishna Prasad accused the hospital for misplacing his baby girl on June 24.
EXIN Times reports asserted that Krishna and Usha Prasad has claimed hours after they were handed over a changed baby by the hospital authority. On the other hand, the ESI hospital said that the couple had delivered them a changed baby who is not the hospital’s baby. Later, the hospital has temporarily suspended two group D workers.


While the Manicktala ESI Hospital has formed a committee to look into the confusion, the complaining families have lodged an FIR to the Manicktala police station.
Both Usha Prasad and Barnali Das, residents of North 24 Parganas and Beliaghata, respectively, gave births to baby girls on Friday. Usha was on bed no.4 and Barnali on bed no. 12 found on Saturday morning that their babies were interchanged, , EXIN Times reports.

“My wife Usha was admitted to the hospital on June 24 at 12.10 pm. She delivered a girl at 3.02 pm the same day. I was shown the child for a few seconds and then she was taken away to the nursery. The next day, at 4 pm, the child was given to my wife at her bed,” said Krishna Prasad who has received a call from his wife early on Saturday saying that the baby was changed.
